What is Corten Steel?

The orange-brown patina on the metal creates a earthy, warm aesthetic . The colour is the result of a protective layer of rust. Another name for corten steel is weathering steel

Corten steel is a metal alloy made by adding copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel and chromium to iron. When exposed to air, the material forms a protective layer of rust. This natural coating prevents further corrosion, extending the life of the material.

Our Corten Steel products are delivered in an un-rusted state and the weathering process will take about 4-5 months to complete.

If you simply cannot wait, use our rust accelerator.
